La Sax, founded in 2005 by local saxophone talents, is regarded as one of the earliest saxophone ensembles in Hong Kong. With the goal of encouraging public interest in the art of classical music, La Sax dedicates to providing high quality concerts to the audience. Over the years, La Sax has been performing extensively in Hong Kong and Asian countries. Remarkable concerts includes “SaxoCarnival” at the Hong Kong City Hall, “Shall We Sax?” at Shat Tin Town Hall, and various public performances at every part of Hong Kong. In August 2014, La Sax was awarded the Jury Special Prize at the Singapore Woodwind Festival. La Sax has continued to grow with a rapidly increasing presence in various concerts and events, and has expanded to an ensemble that consist of more than ten saxophone enthusiasts. Members of La Sax combines professional musicians, music graduates and music students from local institutions, sharing the same passion on saxophone playing.
A Diverse Repertoire
La Sax performs a diverse repertoire ranging from baroque transcriptions, classical literature, orchestral transcriptions, standard saxophone repertoire, jazz as well as popular favourites. Not to mention works arranged by the group in the styles of Chinese traditional music, folk music and local pop music.

To Nurture and Inspire Young Musicians
More than just a performing ensemble, La Sax dedicates to enrich local saxophone music development, especially but not exclusively among the young generation. Our ensemble members are all professional and qualified mentors in providing saxophone and corresponding education. Classes have been offered in various universities, primary and secondary schools.

Philanthropy
La Sax believes that music is for everyone. Therefore, to engage in charitable events is the ensemble’s will to care for the underprivileged in society. In 2014, the ensemble staged a performance to raise fund for the visually impaired at the invitation of The Ebenezer School and Home for the Visually Impaired.

More than Audience Building
Since 2009, La Sax has become one of the performing groups invited by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department to deliver free concerts to the general public in various districts throughout Hong Kong to promote the art of classical saxophone music and to stimulate the creation and growth of local saxophone development. In March 2014, the ensemble was invited by The Performing Arts Education (PAE) of The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts to perform at various public spaces of Sham Shui Po. LA SAX wishes to continue its mission in connecting and building a close relationship with the locals through education programmes and free public concerts.sa
